Teacher Lenin

In Fürstenberg in Germany, you can find a large stone head of Lenin. It lies on the ground near the old Soviet School № 27. The head is broken, forgotten and hidden between the trees. The statue once showed him as a leader and teacher. This strange scene makes many visitors stop and look again.
After the Second World War, the Soviets took control of the area around the Röblinsee lake. Many villas became homes for Soviet officers. The place turned into a small Soviet town inside East Germany.
In the late 1950s, the Soviets built a school on a hill near the lake. They first called it School № 13. It served the children of soldiers who lived and worked in several bases in the region. In 1971 the school received a new name, it became School № 27. The school grew into a full complex. It had classrooms, a canteen, and homes for teachers. It had its own life and its own rules. For many years, this was a closed world. Only Soviet families used it.
A Statue That Lost Its Place
A large statue of Lenin once stood in the school area. It showed him as a leader and teacher. The bust, painted white, stood on a 1.8 meter high pedestal.
When the Soviet army left Germany in 1993 and 1994, the buildings lost their use. Some were destroyed. Some were left open to the weather. At some moment, the Lenin statue went down. Only the head stayed. It is very big and lies a short walk from its old place. The stone is damaged. The nose is broken and a hole in the back shows the inside of the sculpture.
A Quiet Spot With Strange Life
Nature grows fast around the head. Trees cover the area. Paint is gone. The stone is rough. The place is quiet but not empty. Local kids know about the head. They sometimes guide visitors to it. Some of them even ask for small coins when people take photos.
A Memory of a Lost Time
The Lenin head is a reminder of a world that is no longer here. Fürstenberg once held many Soviet soldiers and their families. Today, only small signs remain. This broken head is one of them. It shows how history can fade, but also how it can stay in simple and unexpected ways.
